From the supplier: The Health Insurance Plan of California (HIPC) is a health insurance purchasing alliance create by the California legislature to make it easier for small businesses to buy health insurance. The Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board, a state agency, administers HIPC, which has insured 25,000 people through Dec 1993. The legislature created the necessary conditions for the successful operation of HIPC by mandating that health insurers must market group coverage to businesses with 5-50 employees.
