More Good News About Aging: You Don’t Have to go Deaf Either
Posted by: | CommentsAnother “everybody knows” that has not withstood the light of scrutiny is the myth that as you age you are going to lose your hearing. It is not, according to recent research necessarily true and is certainly not inevitable.
New research strongly suggests that hearing loss could be preventable by eating an antioxidant rich diet or by taking antioxidant supplements.
According to the National Health Survey Hearing loss affects, for example, more than 40% of people in the US over the age of 65 and is the most common sensory disorder among older people. It is expected to be a problem for at least 28 million older Americans by 2030. This all sounds pretty grim and certainly the statistics seem to say that hearing loss and old age are inexorably linked.
Physiologically the decline of hearing acuity in later life involves the death of nerves, hair and membrane cells inside the inner ear. These hair and nerve cells thought to be unable to regenerate. Once they are gone, like teeth, they are gone and there is no getting them –and the consequent lost hearing – back.
It has until recently been assumed – and the assumption taken on the mantle of a fact – that the mere act of living into and beyond middle age causes these hearing loss. But is it true?
Well, no it isn’t. At least this is what is strongly suggested by findings recently published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The evidence suggests that antioxidants protect us against hearing loss.
Researchers in the University of Florida (UF), and scientists from the University of Wisconsin and several other institutions, have identified a protein that appears to be responsible for oxidative damage to cells that results in hearing loss.
We already know that the ravages of oxidative damage can be protected against or repaired using antioxidant therapies or by making foods rich in antioxidants a central plank of your diet. This then opens the door to potentially preventing or even treating hearing decline as we grow older.
Free radicals cause the cellular equivalent of rusting and this oxidative damage harms the mitochondria, the energy centers of cells. When this damage is continual and prolonged, the mitochondria malfunction and release proteins that cause cells to die. This process brings about a host of degenerative physical effects that are associated with aging — including hearing loss.
In addition, the scientists discovered that in animals with excess amounts of an enzyme that scavenges free radicals, and in animals that were fed antioxidants, the onset of age-related hearing loss was significantly delayed.
“This paper clearly shows us that oxidative stress causes hearing loss,” said one University of Florida postdoctoral fellow, in a statement to the media.
The moral of this story is, if you are getting on a bit and want to keep your hearing, as well other advantages of good health, make sure your diet is rich in antioxidants.
The Klamath lake wild blue-green algae is rich in antioxidants and so is green tea so make these part of your daily routine. You can pick up a free book on both these rich sources of anti-oxidants from the website mentioned below.
How bad would you rate your knee problems on a scale 1-10? Ten being the worst.
Does this cause pain or instability?
This is article is written in a case study format for you. We made it this way because you may find yourself relating to one very strongly. Check it out.
Case Study: Treatment For A Injured Knee Ligament
A study of 3 patients, each of whom underwent different treatments for ligament issues, revealed different outcomes to their respective treatments. People have several treatment options available to them when they are suffering from a hurt knee ligament. However, the best option for any individual is determined by taking into consideration several factors.
Patients who present with a hurt ligament often are given the following options:
1.) Physical therapy treatment
2.) Knee surgery
3.) Conservative Treatment
Heather, Dave and Rick were the three patients who all had a hurt knee ligament and who underwent these various treatments.
Dave – Physical Therapy
Dave hurt his knee on the job and went to see his family doctor who referred him to an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon diagnosed the hurt ligament and advised physical therapy as a way to deal with the pain as well as help to heal his knee problems. He also advised Dave to wear a brace to keep the knee in proper alignment and also to keep it supported. Dave unfortunately developed a dependency on pain medication in previous years and decided against pain killers at this time.
Using a knee support and attending physical therapy really worked well for Dave. He uses the knee brace whenever the knee hurts and continues with the exercises he learned in physical therapy. Each of these treatment methods did work well for him and he was able to refrain from using any pain killers.
Rick – Knee Surgery
Rick was overweight and excessive pressure on the knee had caused him to injury his knee ligaments. His physician suggested that he lose some weight but also offered surgery as a way to repair the damaged ligament. The surgery was expensive and also required a period of rehab. Rick was unable to lose weight despite the surgery and after a short while, found that his knee began to hurt again. He is currently using a conservative treatment method and takes his weight more seriously.
It is a wise choice to speak with your physician when you have a hurt knee ligament. Have the condition diagnosed and also make sure that any underlying conditions are also addressed at the time of the diagnosis.
Heather – Conservative Treatment
Heather played basketball for her college and hurt her knee one day during a particularly strenuous game. After an examination by her doctor, it was determined that she had a hurt knee ligament. The doctor prescribed an ice pack, rest and pain pills and recommended that she wear a knee brace while walking. After a week of this conservative treatment, Heather felt much better and got right back into the swing of things and even participated in the inter-collegiate basketball championship.
Heather was fortunate; She fortunately had otherwise good health on her side and no reason for her healing to be impeded. The brace really helped to provide meaningful support which gave her back confidence. She knew the brace would help her a lot, but it would not be the magic cure for her knee problems. It did provide great support that helped to promote healing though. It was no where close to being as costly as surgery either! After a short while she was able to heal naturally and praised the brace for helping her to protect against any further injury.
From these three case studies, it is obvious that surgery should not always be the first option when it comes to treatment for a hurt knee ligament. Conservative treatment should be considered first and pain killers should always be discussed with your physician prior to using them. Using a knee brace and doing select (doctor approved) exercises that do not aggravate the condition are among the best ways to help treat a hurt knee ligament.
Don’t Let Car Thieves Steal Your Car When You Are Driving On Your Vacation
Posted by: | CommentsIn these difficult financial times most folks need vacations more than ever. And people also want to save a lot of money if they can. One economical solution is to take the family car and drive to and from your holiday destination instead of flying.
If you plan to drive, it may also make sense to take some steps to protect yourself and family from car theft. Having some car thief steal your car, luggage, or other items of value from your trunk could really put a damper on what was supposed to be a fun-filled and enjoyable trip.
Even if you take all of the numerous precautions to prevent auto theft when you travel, very determined professional car thieves can still manage to steal any vehicle if they want it badly enough. Can you remember the car theft action movie Gone In 60 Seconds starring Nicolas Cage? However, you can still dramatically reduce the odds of becoming a victim of auto theft to almost zero.
Most of these auto theft preventative measures are common sense and will you cost nothing to do. So why not make it a habit of implementing them not only when you travel by car on your holidays, but also in your every day driving as well?
To start with, you should never take for granted that you are immune from car thieves when traveling, or that your vehicle would not really be worth stealing.
Keep in mind that sometimes these thieves might be after more than just your vehicle, luggage, or any valuables that might be inside your car or trunk. They may only want an older car to joy ride in, or take it to sell its parts.
They may also be after your vehicle documents for identity theft purposes, or they could be thinking of robbing your home town residence while you are away on vacation. Where would they get this important information? From the vehicle registration and auto insurance papers which are usually conveniently located in the glove compartment.
The best way is to eliminate this problem is to keep these documents on your person at all times when traveling on your vacation.
The second best way to reduce this problem is to hide the documents really well in the trunk. Some police forces in cities that have a high incidence of auto thefts recommend doing this. Just remember to tell everyone who is traveling with you where these documents are squirreled away inside the trunk.
Here are some more ways you can lessen the chance of having your holidays ruined by car thieves. If you can manage to implement a number of these suggestions, you can dramatically lessen the odds of becoming another victim of auto theft when you travel.
Close all of your vehicle’s windows tightly and lock all the doors when you park it anywhere, even if it’s only for a minute or two.
A real invitation to lose your vehicle is to leave it idling while unattended. Under no circumstance should you ever do this. Don’t even think about it.
Similarly, you should not leave your vehicle’s keys in the ignition or hidden anywhere in car. That also includes a second set of keys. Professional car thieves can easily find any keys hidden in the usual places very quickly. Keep an extra set of keys on your person.
Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle, even if they can not be seen from the outside of your car. If possible, take them with you.
However, if you have no choice but to leave valuables in your vehicle, at least make sure that they are locked inside your trunk. When you do this, check first and look around to make sure that nobody is watching, or better still, stop, pull over, and put them in your trunk before you arrive at your intended destination. Prying eyes can be anywhere.
When parking your vehicle in public areas, turn you front wheels either to the left or right before turning your ignition off. This will engage the steering wheel locking mechanism in the steering column which can make your car a little more difficult to steal. Engaging the emergency brake after you have parked and turned the motor off may also make your vehicle harder to tow away.
For front wheel and rear wheel drive vehicles you should park them differently when in an underground parking garage. The front wheel drive autos should be parked with the nose in and rear wheel drives with the nose out. Then turn your tires to the left or right. Again, this may make your vehicle harder to tow away.
It’s always best to park in an attendant controlled parking lot rather than an unattended one. If it is a place where there is valet parking, only give the attendant your door and ignition key. They don’t need any of the other keys on your key chain.
In public places at dusk and at night, always park in a well lighted area that has a lot of pedestrian traffic. Keep in mind that most auto thieves prefer to work under the cover of darkness.
Try to avoid parking near or next to any obstruction, such as a fence, hedge, large truck, or anything that blocks a clear view of your vehicle to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
When you are staying in a place that has gated, secure parking, be sure that the gate has completely closed after entering or leaving so that a thief doesn’t sneak in to the parking area behind your vehicle.
If you happen to see any suspicious activity such as a person or group of people hanging around or near your vehicle you should call the police.
Here are some anti-theft devices that you can install for maximum protection. You may already have a few of these products installed in your vehicle.
You should use a highly visible after-market steering wheel lock bar. Most car thieves will likely move on to easier prey. Other less visible after-market anti-theft products are gas pedal locks, brake pedal locks, and armored collars that fit around the steering column which protects the ignition. And for the manual shift vehicles you can also use an after-market shifter lock. These products are all effective but not as highly visible to prying eyes.
Another thing that you can easily do is to have your mechanic install a hood lock that will prevent easy access to your vehicle’s battery and security system.
A loud vehicle alarm system and a highly visible alarm sticker on your windshield is worth its weight in gold especially when it’s combined with the addition of some of the other anti-theft security options.
The best vehicle protection is a passive electronic immobilizer which disables the motor when you turn off the ignition. It’s not an inexpensive device to have installed but it’s well worth it for your peace of mind. There are other benefits you may receive when you install an electronic immobilizer in your car. Some auto insurance companies will offer a discount on your policy if you can show documentation that you’ve had one installed. You also could get more money for your vehicle if you decide to sell it down the road.
Last, but not least, check to make sure you have adequate insurance coverage on your vehicle including theft and damage before you travel by car on any vacation.
Don’t be A Victim – Customers’ Right to Cancel
Posted by: | CommentsSince the start of October 2008 new regulations have come into force concerning the rights of a
consumer to change his or her mind and back out of a contract.
Turning a blind eye to the new regulations could invoke a fine over £1,000. This penalty can be handed out personally to any directors who ignore their company’s inability to apply the new rules.
Spelled out in the Cancellation of Contracts Made in a Consumer’s Home or Workplace etc. Regulations 2008, the new rules mean that consumers now have seven days to cancel a contract, providing that:
-
The contract is worth more than £35
-
The consumer entered into the contract away from your business premises
As long as a contract is over £35 and made somewhere other than your business premises, customers can back out in the first seven days. They do not have to give any reason at all.
This provision is being called the customer’s right to cool off.
Remember, this applies only to contracts made with consumers. They are customers to whom you provide services or sell goods for non-business reasons. These regulations do not apply to any contracts made between one business and another.
What does this mean for my business?
If you make contracts with consumers in this way, then you will need to be aware of their new rights and adjust your paperwork to reflect this. Unlike the Sale of Goods Act, which states that their must be something wrong with goods for them to be returned, these new rules mean that consumers can pull out without having to give a reason. They can cancel the contract without any liability – providing they do so within seven days. This applies regardless of whether your visit to the customer is unsolicited or a pre-arranged appointment.
To include the Regulations in your paperwork, give your customers written notice of their right to cancel when the contracts are made. To make it obvious to your customers:
-
Spell out their right clearly and obviously
-
Include the date, your company name and contact details
-
Tell them how to cancel
-
Include a cancellation form and an address to send it to
-
Specify that the seven day period begins at the date of this contract
The customer cancellation form need say no more than: ‘To (insert your company name), I/we give notice that I/we wish to cancel my/our contract. Signed…’
You may want to word the notice in the following way:
Should you wish to cancel this contract, you must do so in writing within seven calendar days from the date of this contract, sending, delivering or emailing your cancellation to the person named below. A cancellation form is included for your convenience or you may write your own cancellation.
The customer’s right to cancel prevents them from being unduly pressured into receiving services or goods. Being clear on it as a business is not hard to do, and it prevents you from suffering a large fine for not complying with new regulations.
Why Don’t More People Make Money Online And Work From Home?
Posted by: | CommentsWhy don’t more people work from home? Most people would love to work from home, make money online, perhaps earn a second income and give up their JOBs – (an acronym for Just Over Broke, perhaps?) So why DON’T more people work from home? The fear of the unknown – the fear of failure – the fact that we’ve been conditioned for YEARS to measure success by the suits we wear, the companies we work for and the “positions” we hold. Or, you’re in business for yourself – you’ve invested so much of yourself already that staying where you are is almost less painful than getting out. Trading our lives for an income seems totally acceptable. Just as slavery was once totally acceptable. However, most of you would happily give up your daily grind if were not for the fact that your good incomes holds you captive. You have become accustomed to a lifestyle and your jobs pay for it. So – you’re trapped – a victim of your own circumstances and a responsible attitude. How do I know? I was there just two years ago. BUT – where is the security? WHERE is the reliability of your job being dependable? Where is the satisfaction of playing office politics and putting up with nightmarish commutes?? A select group of forward thinking individuals have found the answer to allow them to work from home – and generate an upper end corporate income – without all the related pressures. The answer for them was .. no – NOT one of those Get Rich Quick schemes — but a proper business which could be worked from home and has almost everything you need – all in one place. Why the “almost”A? The one thing that is usually lacking in all online initiatives is live, interactive support – in other words, REAL people.
You see, it doesn’t mater how much we want to make money online and work from home, at the end of the day, we need real people to talk to if we are going to stay encouraged, educated, motivated and successful. Enter The J2911 Marketing Group. We’ve always been very hot on interactive training and support – simply because we know that is one of the keys to success – and now we’ve taken it to a whole new level. You know what? It is so important that you don’t make mistakes when it comes to you choosing who you work with. On the one hand you have the sleek, sharp, glossy, high-powered marketers – usually so full of themselves that they have very little time for anyone who doesn’t circulate in the same rarified atmosphere or talk in the same marketing “jargon” that they do. They’ve forgotten where they started and questions are usually met with a thinly veiled sigh of exasperation. On the other hand – you have the “Fagins” of the marketing world – quite happy to pick a pocket or two – and quite happy to sleep well at night after having done so! Just one of the realities of life – online or off – I’m afraid. Ultimately, it boils down to one thing – you have to choose to work with people who are similar to you – people who have the same value system and ethics as you – people who have the same personality as you. AND ….. you have just one chance to get it right – or go staggering from one “programme” to another – the walking wounded of the Online Marketing Community. What does amaze me is the number of people who make the wrong decision – choosing glitz and glamour over old fashioned good sense.
However, it is somewhat understandable that given the choice between “living lives of quiet desperation” in regular daily JOBs and businesses where you at least know what to expect —- and the minefield that can be the internet marketing home business world – many choose to remain where they are rather than escape it all, work from home and make money online. Some people need something to go desperately wrong – to shake them out of that false security ……… others are forward thinking – and brave enough to make the decision before it comes to the crunch. In this dire economy – many people are unfortunately having the decision thrust upon them. Anyone not thinking of a safety blanket right now – needs their heads examined!!
Which category do you belong to? If this has made you think – and if you’re looking for a group of mature, very successful, down-to-earth, very normal people who like nothing better than to share all their knowledge with you and help you be successful too, them simply follow the links at the end of this article. The J2911 Marketing Group is made up of stay-at-home Moms, Medical Professionals, Pastors, Senior Citizens, IT Professionals, Mortgage Brokers, Business Men & Women and Property and Financial Consultants – from all around the world. We’re quietly finding a new way to live – and helping others do so to. Is this for you? Will the Work From Home dream work for you too, or will your dream of learning how to make money online become the ultimate nightmare? You won’t know till you delve deeper – it is critically important that you join the right business, with the right person there to show you exactly what you need to do make money online. However, you know that horrible name most home businesses have? Well – it is quite deserved, I’m afraid – but don’t chuck the baby out with the bath water – good businesses still exist. My business business partners and myself have found one – I hope you do too.

Wallside Windows Says: Don’t Throw Your Money Out the “Window” This Winter
Posted by: | CommentsIf the windows in your home are worn-out, run-down and drafty, you’re throwing money, well, out the window.
With Winter here, and utility rate increases driving home heating costs higher than ever, windows that have deteriorated—or worse yet, been improperly installed—can be costing homeowners thousands of dollars per year. With natural gas prices predicted to increase this Winter, now is a perfect time to inspect your windows.
It is time to replace your windows when they no longer serve their purpose—keeping the heat in during Winter and the cold in during Summer.
If you think that drafty windows are only costing you a few dollars a month on your heating bills, think again. According to a study conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy, by converting from single-pane to double-pane clear glass windows, an average homeowner can cut his or her heating bill by as much as 25 percent. By converting to argon filled, double-pane windows with a low-E coating, the heating bill could be cut as much as 35 percent.
When considering the long-term return on your investment (homeowners can expect to recoup a significant portion of the cost of replacement windows), you could easily be looking at thousands of dollars saved in less than five years.
How do you tell if your windows no longer work and need to be replaced? According to Stanford Blanck, co-owner of Taylor-based Wallside Windows, a manufacturer and installer of vinyl replacement windows, energy efficiency in windows is a result of two factors—the window frame and the window glass. Blanck, who has more than 30 years of window replacement experience, said the following areas are what to look for:
The condition of the window frames
If your windows are loose and rattling, it means the sash and channels have deteriorated, and the window is no longer sealed properly. A loose sash means that the window’s life is over—it needs to be replaced. Also, if you can actually feel air drafts around the window, whether in winter or summer, the window is not doing what it’s supposed to do— it is time to replace it. Rotting wood and peeling paint are results of condensation—a sign that the windows no longer work properly.
If the frames are aluminum, you might consider replacing them with wood or vinyl. According to Blanck, aluminum is a conductive metal, and does a poor job of keeping heat in the house. Aluminum frames are found mainly on older houses, and are rarely installed anymore.
The window glass
Windows today are far superior to the single-pane windows of years past.
“Simply put, if you have single-pane windows—even if the frames are in perfect condition—you should replace the glass,” Blanck said. “Single-pane windows are costing you money.”
Why? “Energy efficiency,” Blanck noted.
How well windows keep heat in and cold out is measured by something known as the U-Factor—the lower the U-Factor, the more energy efficient the glass.
The U-Factor for a single pane of glass is 1.30. Adding another pane of glass by installing a double-pane window reduces the U-Factor to .49, meaning heat loss is cut by more than half. If the double-pane window has a low emissions coating, the U-Factor drops to .34. And if the space between the windows is filled with an inert gas, such as argon, the U-Factor is reduced even further.
“The best window is the one that is installed properly”
But the single most important factor in window efficiency, according to Blanck, is installation. “No matter how well a window is made,” he said, “if it is not installed correctly, you bought a problem, not a solution.”
If windows are not fitted correctly or properly installed, an excessive amount of the home’s heat can be lost through even the slightest breach or opening.
To ensure proper installation, hire a professional. A good rule of thumb is to seek out window companies that have been in business at least as long their guarantee.
Remember, no matter how expensive your windows or how great they look in the showroom, you’re wasting your money if they’re not installed properly in your home.
This one was a bit tough for me to swallow when I discovered the truth, so you’re going to have to stick with me on this one.
Despite what most networkers think, you don’t actually OWN your network marketing business.
“But my company told me that I’m a business owner! And that I can write off my expenses.”
I know. But I’m really sorry. Here are the facts.
* You don’t own the company name or the company logo.
* You don’t own your replicated distributor website.
* You don’t own the products and services.
* You don’t even own your downline!!!
Plus “writing off expenses” is not a good reason to get into business in the first place.
So let me put this another way.
Business owners own assets. And your opportunity is NOT an asset because you don’t REALLY own anything.
So that doesn’t make you much of a business owner does it?
This isn’t conspiracy talk; I’m not trying to tick you off; and I’m definitely not to discrediting your efforts as an entrepreneur. But I have to lay down the facts.
You’re building someone else’s company and everything you’ve built in your business can be taken away from you at the drop of a dime. You essentially have NO rights.
And if you don’t believe me, then re-read the rep agreement you signed when you first started in your opportunity.
So why am I telling you all this?
Be sure to stay with me here…
There are 3 main reasons.
1. I’m tired of companies pushing the glorified “build yourself an asset” bullsh*t in presentations when they’re not really teaching you how to build a real asset that you own (excuse my language but I get passionate about this sort of stuff…)
2. I know that hard working network marketers deserve WAY better.
3. I want to teach you a simple way to turn your network marketing business and hard work into a REAL ASSET (not just a downline that you don’t even own and can be taken away from you at any time.)
And I’m not saying that the companies we work with have lied to us, but they do have a way of telling us certain things and not highlighting others.
“Okay…so how do I turn my network marketing business into a real asset? Something that I really own?”
Good question and I’ll give you a straight answer.
The only thing you will ever truly own in your network marketing business is your list of contacts.
“But I have a contact list – problem solved!!!”
Not exactly.
For that list to become a real asset, you have to know EXACTLY how to turn that list of contacts into cash, every single month – even if prospects say “No” to your opportunity.
Interesting concept isn’t it? It’s also a profitable one.
Now here’s something for those of you who are serious about building a true business…
The link below gives you free access to a step by step guide on how to turn your network marketing business into a real asset.
It’s a new training website for network marketers and home business owners. The site shows you how to build your network marketing business into a real asset. Not just a downline that can be taken away from you at any time.
Thanks to this website I’m actually building a REAL asset that will stay with me no matter what company I choose to work with.
Have you ever wondered how certain people can move from company to company and still build massive downlines in a short period of time?
Here’s your answer.

Attn Network Marketers: You Don’t Actually Own Your Network Marketing Business. I’ll Prove It.
